About Us

While the journey has only begun, Ensign Symphony & Chorus is quickly moving to become the premiere ensemble for uplifting, professional quality music in the region.  Ensign Symphony & Chorus will be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (pending IRS determination) whose mission is to "bless and uplift audiences in the greater Puget Sound region through professional quality performances of inspiring sacred and secular music".  Performances for the 2013-2014 season are planned at Benaroya Hall to enable many to attend and feel the Spirit.  Membership in the Ensign Symphony & Chorus is open to any and all who wish to share their talents to support the mission of the organization.

The Ensign Chorus is a 120 - 150 member auditioned volunteer choir.  The Ensign Symphony is a 50-75 member auditioned volunteer symphony orchestra.  It is anticipated that the chorus and the symphony will perform together for 3-4 concerts each year and that the orchestra will perform alone for 2 concerts each year.  Auditions for our inaugural season will primarily take place in May and June 2013 and rehearsals will begin for the season in September 2013.  For more information about the auditions process, check out our Auditions page.  Rehearsals are expected to be held in an LDS church building (for the chorus) and a high school orchestra room (for the symphony) near the Seattle, Washington temple on a Thursday from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

  1. What is the rehearsal commitment? Will it be a specific day of the week? Different days? Once a week? More than once? Set at one building or will that vary too? Will that be set up soon? I know some members who would be interested, but they could only participate on Thursdays--and would like it know if it would even be an option before preparing for an audition.
    Thanks

    1. We'll be deciding the day of the week at our upcoming Board meeting on April 4th. As for location, we are shooting for one location for the chorus and one location for the symphony. Only variation in location should be when chorus and symphony rehearse together or when our typical location isn't available. Will post more information once decided.

    2. We have decided on a rehearsal date, but are not ready to announce the location yet. We'll be rehearsing Thursdays from 7:30 - 9:30 for the chorus and 7:00 - 9:30 for the symphony.

  2. How much do you forecast ticket prices will be for the various concerts?

    1. We have that very topic on the agenda for our next Board meeting so we should have an answer soon, but the goal is to keep the prices as low as possible.
